Session Overview
This workshop will provide Bright Ideas Group members with the opportunity to learn more about the MediaWiki platform and our new SWSI Induction wiki. During the session, Jo Kay will provide a general overview of the media wiki platform and its features, as well as a a hands-on crash course in creating and editing content in the new SWSI Induction Mediawiki!

Please Bring...
During this hands on workshop, there will be opportunities to start publishing content on the SWSI Induction MediaWiki. Please come to the workshop with the following resources:
- An image to upload to your personal page
- Some text or content you would like to publish on the wiki.
You can bring your content on a thumbdrive/cd-rom or simply email it to yourself so you can access it easily during the workshop!
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the session you will:
- Understand what a wiki is and how wikis and social software tools differs from traditional websites
- Have an awareness of the mediawiki platform and its features
- Know how to create, structure, and modify a Media Wiki Page
- Know how to locate and categorise information on the SWSI Induction Wiki
- Have an understanding of the Widgets and Extensions installed on the SWSI Induction wiki and how they for inclusion of multimedia and dynamic content.

- How to Create and Edit a New Page on the SWSI Induction Wiki
- How to Add an Image to a SWSI Induction Wiki Page
- How to Upload and Embed a Video on the SWSI Induction Wiki
- How to Upload and Embed a Podcast on the SWSI Induction Wiki
- How to Publish a Media File (PDF, Word etc) on the SWSI Induction Wiki
