My Relationship with Sydney Institute


What's expected of me in my teaching duties? 

In taking on employment as a part time casual teacher at Sydney Institute, the minimum expected of you is that you will perform your duties efficiently - that is, you will perform to a level required by TAFE to achieve the outcomes relevant to your position. In particular, Sydney Institute expects you to:

  • Know your subject content and how to teach it to your students
  • Understand your students and how they learn
  • Plan, assess and report for effective learning
  • Communicate effectively with students and other staff
  • Maintain a safe and challenging learning environment through the use of effective student management skills
  • Continually improve your professional knowledge, capabilities and practice
  • Perform your duties with the appropriate level of supervision
  • Be actively engaged as a professional
  • Make a positive contribution to your team/section and work in a cohesive and cooperative manner
  • Particpate in Institute activities
  • Work with others to achieve quality in all aspects of work
  • Contribute to meeting Institute goals and targets
