Staff Training Room, DG-45, Build Specifications, semester I 2009
Background
This page has been created for collaboration between ITSU and Learning and Innovation on the build of the computers in the Staff Training Room, DG-45, Ultimo.
The room was previously build to the following specifications in semeter 2 2007.
Work Force Development has installed a range of software to accommodate custom training sessions conducted by external institutes or organisations and for the delivery of training in New & emerging Technologies ie ITunes. Many of these are non standard and not approved by ITSU.
This is a revised build for 2009.
Proposed Software for Build
Apple iTunes

This is used for delivering podcasting workshops were iTunes is used to search and subscribe to a podcast and finally sync to an ipod.
MS Photostory 3
This is used for digital story telling workshops. Has become part of educational build so should pose no major issues.
MS Movie Maker

Audacity

Audacity is free, open source, recording and editing software.
In order for Audacity to be able to export in MP3 format you will need to download and install the separate LAME encoder

Used for editing audio files. Used for podcasting or recording/editing audio for resource development. A propriety alternative to Audacity

Flash Paper

This is used as part of the Adobe Connect trial. L&I run training sessions on the use of Connect in DG-45. We have licences under the Access to New Technologies Project ANT trial. Every user who is a host in a room on the Adobe Connect server can install Flash Paper.

Adobe presenter is an extension to MS Powerpoint which enables rich media to be produced and delivered in flash format stand alone or via Adobe Connect.
We have licences under the Access to New Technologies Project ANT trial.

Web Cam driver
Currently there are web cams on each computer in dg-45, these are used for the Adobe Connect training sessions.
