Session: Online Line Platforms for Learning - Wikis and Blogs

This session is designed to illustrates how open, low-cost platforms like Wikispaces, Wordpress Blogs, MediaWiki and Moodle can be used to establish effective online teaching and learning spaces, which are both flexible enough for students and teachers to access and collaborate with easily, and also meet organisational management concerns about publishing on the open web.
The session will cover a range of issues including:
- Overview of various open source/low costs publishing spaces - Wikispaces, Wordpress, Mediawiki, Moodle
- Designing open publishing spaces for teaching and learning
- Management Strategies - Blogs, Wikis and LMSs
- Wikis in the Wild - some examples of good practice from Sydney Institute and Western Sydney Institute.
