Feedback – ideas for influencing
The following are some of the suggestions from participants at the recent leadership forum held @ St George College 27 February 2009 on maximising participation in the My Voice survey:
- Promote a “Voice Hour” across the Institute
- Provide access to laptops in wireless areas for ptct and other staff to use
- Devote time in staff meetings in suitable locations for immediate staff in your section to complete the survey all at once
- Reinforce “all users” emails with reminders in your own emails to staff
- Add a reminder to your email signature
- Posters in key locations eg photocopy rooms, staff tea rooms
- Do the survey yourself
- “I’ve done the survey” – promote...tee shirts? Badges?
- Point to the two open ended questions as encouragement to have your say, get something off your chest (but remind them that they have to fill in the rest of the survey for their response to “count”)
- Persuade others to persuade others – a chain.
- Get other sections involved – cross promotion
- Don’t waste time on the recalcitrants who will never do it – concentrate on the 80%.
- Constantly reinforce the confidentiality
- Use Outlook tasks and calendar to assign and remind
- Point to improvements resulting from past surveys e.g. the new systems that will bring benefits – TIPA, web-based EC’s.
- Use podcasts (or videocasts)
- Emphasise to resistors that staff engagement surveys are a fundamental tool for an organisation in a competitive environment – could help you keep your job.
- Promote through Hot Topics; remind staff about Hot Topics and Sunrise.
