Purpose

The purpose of this session is to introduce participants to the Pilot communication and pronunciation modification course for overseas-trained doctors:

  • Stakeholders, aims and objectives and the role of the moodle in this context
  • Integrating communication skills with a specific professional context; issues and solutions
  • Use of .mp3 recorder; playback and .mp3 voice files for developing both fluency and accuracy in oral communication

  3. What does current research say about it?

Learning outcomes

At the end of this session participants will:

  1. be aware of the potential of a moodle or similar platform in enhancing learning for any specific group
  2. be aware of the challenges and benefits of integrating language development into specific professional contexts
  3. recognise the benefits of using .mp3 voice files in improving overseas-trained professionals’ confidence and skills in oral communication
