This session will profile a 2009 e-portfolio implementation trial, a joint project funded by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework and TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute. It comprises one of 3 projects funded nationally to trial the implementation of e-portfolios in the VET sector. The project titled "Skills recognition using e-portfolios: Hairdressing, a case study using Mahara" is based in the hairdressing section at Ultimo college and has been trialing the use of the Mahara online e-portfolio & social networking platform to support the existing skills recognition services being offered to students seeking skills recognition in Hairdressing training packages. The project is also trialing a range of Point of View (POV) Cameras for students to record video of workplace activities for use as evidence in the recognition process.
