Hi I'm Bronwyn Crawford
I'm a Child Studies teacher and TVET Coordinator at Petersham College and from semester two 2008 I'm taking on a new role through the Learning Technology Mentors Program. For 10 weeks in term 3 I will be working with colleagues at the West St Campus of Petersham College and the Design Centre at Enmore to support the use of new technologies for teaching and learning.
I have been teaching for 20 years in Child Studies and have seen our teaching practices change dramatically in this period with a shift to becoming a community of learners with teachers as facilitators and technology has played a major role in this transition. We have set up Moodles to communicate with students, we regularly film students in playsession for reflection and analysis of interactions with children and we now have Smartboards to present class materials in a lively and interactive way. Through the internet we can access material globally and issues related to cultural diversity are usually interesting and up to date - for instance we recently looked at children's lunch boxes throughout the world on FlickR.
So I look forward to sharing ideas, strategies and goals with colleagues.
