Future Learning - Using YouTube in Education

Overview

YouTube is a video sharing website in which 24hours of video material is uploaded every minute. This vast network of videos spans across all continents, races, ages and any other demographic you care to mention. YouTube videos span from the sublime to the ridiculous and cover everything from social comment, politics, and history through to music, short films and instructional videos. Anything you can think of will be covered to some degree with some top ranking clips receiving upwards of 70 million hits.

As a result YouTube has huge potential within education, this online workshop aims to show you how to harness this potential. We start with the basics of how to set up an account, search and view material and move to creating and uploading content.

YouTube is viewed daily by hundreds of millions of people across the planet including the majority of students at TAFE. What better way to further engage learners than incorporating YouTube within your own teaching methods.

There is a 1 hr online session that will demonstrate how the online video sharing service YouTube can be used as a teaching and learning tool. There is also a 3 hr f2f session that will focus on how the tools and features of YouTube can be integrated in teaching and learning.
